About the Author: Ruth Ann Allaire has an 83 years old body but a young mind. She darts from project to project, having accomplished much in her life, but little of importance. A college professor (Ph.D.) for 30 years, she tried to instill in her student's minds the ideas of carefully following the handed out syllabi but with numerous excursions into creative thinking. Her need for scientific research led her to spending summers on the Potomac River, studying the invasive plant species, Hydrilla, as it invaded the waterways in Northern Virginia. Gardening and bird watching were favorite hobbies but genealogy claimed much of her free time as she carefully researched two family names which had been whispered about in her youth. Her grandmother had taken her to cemeteries on Memorial Days and she had memorized the names on nearby stones for later study. As a mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, she opened her heart and mind to the joys and tribulations in life. She spent many years as a volunteer with Domestic Violence Councils, developing programs for those involved and as a court advocate. She studied Reiki, Acupressure, and Raphaelite Healing, practicing on family, friends and anyone who came close to her hands. As a Wanderer on the Endless Road, she graduated from Suluk Academy in2008. Becoming a healing Cheraga in the Sufi Healing Order, she continued her studies of different religions and practices. She volunteers with Virginia Master Naturalists as a teacher and with Fredericksburg Mental Health as a listener and friend to those who face the problems of aging. In her frantic quest for knowledge and the meaning of life, she scattered husbands, lovers and friends. She kept the children, one husband and the thirst for learning. She ends as a wanderer on the endless road of life. Married to an Egyptian she is very interested in the way that different cultures treat the common problems of marriage, children, employment, divorce, death and life. Over all the years and with different drives, she has always written poetry. She continues to write poetry, short fiction and perspectives on the aging process.
