A good plot has a clear beginning, middle, and end, with suspense, mystery, and surprise. Conflict is the engine of the plot, driving characters to face challenges and make choices. 3. Setting: Setting is an essential part of the world that the characters inhabit. It supports the plot and reflects the characters' emotions. We can use the five senses to describe setting, allowing readers to experience that world through sight, sound, touch, smell, and taste. For example, a description of a terrifying forest might include "the shadows of dark trees, the rustle of decaying leaves, and the chill of humid air."
