Les travaux actuels examinent les différences entre les sexes dans la sélection des stratégies d'influence par les dirigeants. Les résultats précédents indiquent que les managers masculins et féminins utilisent des types de stratégies d'influence différents. Cependant, deux séries d'explications ont été proposées pour expliquer ces différences, à savoir le modèle de rôle social et le modèle structurel. Les résultats dans ce domaine n'étant pas concluants et plusieurs questions restant sans réponse, la présente étude a été entreprise par les auteurs. Afin de répondre à des questions de recherche spécifiques dans ce domaine, trois séries d'études ont été menées. Dans la première étude, les résultats étaient mitigés et indiquaient qu'il pourrait y avoir une possibilité que le modèle de rôle social joue un rôle. Cependant, dans les études ultérieures, le sexe n'a eu d'effet significatif sur aucune des variables dépendantes. Par conséquent, il a été conclu qu'en raison des changements intervenus sur le lieu de travail et dans les normes sociétales au cours d'une période donnée, les attentes stéréotypées en matière de rôles sexospécifiques diminuent de jour en jour. Ce travail intéressera les chercheurs en psychologie, sociologie, gestion ou toute personne intéressée par le domaine du comportement organisationnel.
