Fachhochschule Frankfurt am Main, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: In den Medien wurde in letzter Zeit des Öfteren über den etwaigen Beginn eines asiatischen Jahrhunderts diskutiert. In welchem Bezug diese markante These zur Lebenswelt der Bevölkerung steht, lässt sich für viele nur erahnen. Die breite Öffentlichkeit hierzulande verbindet mit asiatischen Ländern zumeist weit entfernte Urlaubsziele und Bevölkerungsschichten, die hinsichtlich ihres Lebensstandards scheinbar noch weit hinter den westlichen Industrieländern zurückliegen. Diese Wahrnehmung dürfte sich jedoch alsbald ändern. Im September des Jahres 2011 erhielt der aufmerksame Betrachter einen Eindruck dessen, was aller Voraussicht nach in baldiger Zukunft im Alltag vieler Menschen in das Blickfeld rückt. Im Europapokalspiel des FC Schalke 04 gegen den israelischen Fußballverein Maccabi Haifa konnte man chinesische Schriftzeichen als Bandenwerbung für den größten chinesischen Haushaltsgeräte-Hersteller namens Haier erblicken. Dieser für manch einen der vielen Fernsehzuschauer in Deutschland sicherlich überraschende und ungewohnte Anblick war mit direktem Augenschein erkennbar. Anders mag es vielen Fußballinteressierten ergangen sein, die in der Halbzeitpause Automobilwerbungen von vier global bekannten Automarken sahen, von deren, für viele wahrscheinlich unbemerkt, drei im Zuge der letzten Jahre in die Hände indischer oder chinesischer Fahrzeugbauer gelangten. Ebenfalls im September 2011 widmete das Nachrichtenmagazin Focus, eine der auflagenstärksten Zeitschriften Deutschlands, sein Titelthema mit der Überschrift "China kauft Deutsch" der globalen Shopping-Tour Chinas mit einhergehenden Investitionen in Rohstoffe, Unternehmen, Know-how und Staatsschulden sowie seinem bemerkbaren Vorpreschen in europäische Gefilde.
