In die Arbeitslosigkeit entlassen zu werden, ist für die Betroffenen ein schmerzlicher Prozess. Doch wie geht es eigentlich den Personalleitern, die diese Entlassungen durchführen müssen? Wie gehen sie mit dieser Situation um? Während eines Entlassungsprozesses stehen Führungskräfte aus dem Personalbereich im Rampenlicht: obwohl sich ihr Handlungsspielraum oft in Grenzen hält, sind sie doch diejenigen, die den Prozess maßgeblich und vor allem sichtbar prägen. Sie werden einerseits die Kritik der Belegschaft an den Entscheidungen der Geschäftsleitung zu spüren bekommen und sie werden andererseits die Kündigungsschutzklagen beantworten. Mit dieser Ambivalenz muss eine Führungskraft aus dem Personalbereich oft über einen längeren Zeitraum zurechtkommen. Das vorliegende Buch zeigt zum einen auf, wie unterschiedlich diese Führungskräfte mit ihrem Job umgehen und inwieweit sie überhaupt Stress empfinden. Zum anderen wird untersucht, welche Reaktionen auf den Stress auftreten und welche Strategien der Einzelne entwickelt hat, um ihn besser zu bewältigen. Nach der Vorstellung verschiedener Stressdefinitionen und Stressbewältigungskonzepte stellt die Autorin Hypothesen zur Stresssituation der Führungskräfte aus dem Personalbereich auf, wobei sie sowohl auf die Literatur als auch auf vielfältige persönliche Erfahrungen zurückgreift. Um die Hypothesen zu testen, führt die Autorin persönliche, qualitative Interviews mit aktuell betroffenen Personalleitern durch. Die Ergebnisse werden durch die zusätzliche Verwendung eines standardisierten Fragebogens relativiert, der Aufschluss über das generelle Verhalten der Interviewpartner in belastenden Situationen geben soll. Die Auswertung der Interviews findet anhand einer qualitativen, strukturierenden Inhaltsanalyse statt, bei der die Autorin ein Kategoriensystem bildet. Durch dieses Kategoriensystem gelingt es ihr, Aussagen zu negativem Stress sowie zu seiner Bewältigung herauszufiltern und zu verdichten. Neben dem "durchschnittlic
