About the Book

"Die Stählerne Flotte - Deutsche in Antarktika" bildet die Vorgeschichte zum Science-Fiction Roman "Deutsche im Weltraum," der 2020 erschienen ist. Das Buch beginnt zeitlich kurz vor Ende des zweiten Weltkrieges und endet in den sechziger Jahren. Eine der Hauptfiguren ist Johannes Mattke, dessen Vater Reinhard als U-Boot Fahrer gegen Ende des Krieges deutsche Wissenschaftler mit ihren Familien zu einem sicheren Refugium auf dem antarktischen Kontinent bringen soll. Seine Kindheit und Jugend verbringt Johannes deshalb in der Untereisbasis "Neu Berlin", die dazu dient, die zahlreichen Nachkommen von KK-Offizieren und Siedlungsfrauen zu unschlagbaren Soldaten auszubilden. Der eigenwillige Junge hat jedoch ganz andere Pläne. Der Jagdpilot Otto Dieckmann bildet eine weitere Hauptfigur. Seine Aufgabe ist es, die neusten und geheimsten Rundflugzeuge der Abteilung "Nachtwaffe" zu fliegen. Hier lernt er die ebenso schöne wie unnahbare Vril-Pilotin Erika Lechner kennen, die enge Kontakte zu den Aldebaranern pflegt. Bei dieser Gruppe handelt es sich um wohlwollende Außerirdische, die Erika die Pläne zum Bau der Vril-Scheiben, die mit Antigravitationstechnologie funktionieren, übermittelt haben. Die Abteilung "Kampf-Kommando" besitzt jedoch auch Verbindungen zu einer Gruppe von aggressiven, reptiloiden Wesenheiten, die dem deutschen Militär dabei helfen, die Rundflugzeuge mit Kraftstrahlkanonen zu bewaffnen. Die Drakonier tun dies aber nicht ohne Gegenleistung. Ein weiterer Erzählstrang handelt von den beiden Raketen-Ingenieuren Volker und Hubertus von Hagen, die als Überläufer in die Hände des amerikanischen Militärs geraten und nun ihr Wissen einer Weltmacht zur Verfügung stellen, die hoch hinaus will. Das Buch handelt von Allianzen zwischen Menschen und Außerirdischen und zwischen verfeindeten Mächten, die manchmal aus purem Opportunismus zusammenarbeiten.
