About the Book

Who killed Carlton Greene on the night of July 4th, 1957? Ten years later, in the summer of 1967, sixteen year old Billy Scott has to find out and if he reveals it to the world, will be killed as well. After receiving a pristine Chevy Bel Air stored in the family garage as a graduation present from his cold, calculating father, things begin to happen that nearly send Billy over the edge. As strange luck would have it, Carlton is revealed to be the eldest son of Billy's best friend and mentor, Amos Greene, the seventy five year old grandson of a slave who helps open the doors to Billy's future. He can't tell Mr. Greene who he is beginning to suspect caused Carlton's death or the grisly evidence he has discovered lodged in the wheel well of the Bel Air.Using the evidence as a lead, Billy begins to investigate the past using Summerville's newspaper files and asking questions of the local police. As word gets around, the townsfolk begin to act strangely toward him and repeated attempts are made on Billy's life, yet, unbeknownst to Billy and his enemies, a powerful ally from another dimension is watching over him. A story spanning decades, reveals the highs and lows of adolescent wishful thinking, and the awkwardness of stepping up to the plate in the daunting world of manhood. The first tastes of young romance, of shocking discoveries and bitter blood reveal that the ties that bind are often the ties that blind. Follow Billy when he discovers that in a cruel world that seldom waits, love proves nothing is too late.
About the Author: Mark Nunn is an emerging author and resident of the real town of Summerville, South Carolina. It's charm and history has inspired him to write a fictional story using a "coming of age" venue as one way to reflect its many facets. His influences in writing have included and are reminiscent to Stephen King, Richard Matheson and Rod Serling whose works have aided in shaping his writing style and insight regarding character and plot. His next novel, called "Down in the Dark" is soon to be released. It is a mystery/thriller set in the present and takes place in historic, Charleston SC.
