About the Book

For those who find themselves in the unenviable position of being pink-slipped, there is valuable help in the form of a unique guide that is not only funny but filled with life-saving and money-saving tips. After being let go twice in her working life, writer/photographer/fundraiser and now professional organizer Leslie Jacobs learned how to not only survive but give birth to a new, successful life-in effect to make lemonade out of those proverbial lemons. Out of the wisdom gained, she created Survival in the Unemployment Line, which provides the answer to "What do I do now?" The book shows how to go about finding that next great job, how to market yourself, how to manage those pesky monthly bills, how to barter for the things you need, and what you can do in the meantime to make money. There are a plethora of tips on how to organize your life and stay on track, how to have cost-free fun, and what to do to keep yourself from "going bonkers."
About the Author: Leslie Jacobs graduated from University of Bridgeport with a degree in journalism and received her master's degree from Wesleyan University. She worked for United Press International, photographing the world's most renowned and influential people. Jacobs then added fundraising to her many skills and spent ten years raising money for various non-profits. In 1999, Jacobs walked into Cousin Sheila's kitchen and opened a cabinet. Tupperware came tumbling out, and Jacobs innocently asked if she could organize these for her. Within two hours, the task was completed, and Sheila was explaining how Jacobs could turn her talent into a business. Twenty-four hours later Les Is More-Jacobs' professional organizing service-was born. Jacobs lectures, writes for a number of publications, and teaches Adult Education courses. She has appeared on Better Connecticut and would love to do a radio call-in show to help people live clutter-free. She also created Les Mess, the only organizing game for children. www.lesmess.com
