Masterarbeit aus dem Jahr 2012 im Fachbereich BWL - Unternehmensführung, Management, Organisation, Note: 1,5, Leuphana Universität Lüneburg (Center for Sustainability Management), Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Interessant ist die Arbeit für alle, die sich mit den Nachhaltigkeit und Nachhaltigkeitsmanagement im Zuge der Digitalisierung beschäftigen. Die im Jahr 2012 erarbeiteten Grundlagen für die Informations- und Telekommunikations-Branche (ITK) sind die Basis für die Veränderungen, die heute (2018) alle Unternehmen betreffen. Der Informations- und Telekommunikations-Branche (ITK) wird ein hohes ökonomisches Potenzial durch Nachhaltigkeit bescheinigt. Zum einen bestehen Kostenpotenziale durch Verbesserung der Energieeffizienz - die Informations- und Kommunikationstechnik verursacht weltweit ähnlich viele Kohlendioxid-(CO)-Emissionen wie die Luftfahrt. Zum anderen bestehen Umsatzpotenziale durch Innovationen, die Kunden dabei helfen "grün" zu werden. Ein hoher gesellschaftlicher Beitrag beim Wandel zur klimafreundlichen Gesellschaft wird dadurch erwartet: Die Nutzung digitaler Technologien kann zu 23 % der von Deutschland angestrebten CO2-Einsparung ggü. "Business as usual" führen (vgl. Global e-Sustainability Initiative 2009). Voraussetzung dafür ist, dass Unternehmensnachhaltigkeit das Kerngeschäft integriert ist und Produkte entsprechend gestaltet werden. Die Analyse von sieben ITK-Unternehmen im deutschen Markt, zeigte, dass die "Global Player" die Möglichkeiten zur Öko-Effizienz nutzen. Die Chancen für ein öko-orientiertes Produkt-Design werden (noch) nicht umgesetzt. Das größte gesellschaftliche Nutzenpotenzial der (I)TK beim Wandel zur klimafreundlichen Gesellschaft liegt noch brach. Hemmnisse bei der Umsetzung sind u. a. gegenläufige strategische Prioritäten und fehlende Beziehungen zu den finanziellen Werttreibern von Konzernen.
