About the Book

Today the healthcare sector is facing challenges such as detecting the cause of ailments, disease prevention, high operating costs, availability of skilled technicians and infrastructure bottlenecks. Intelligent Healthcare Management technologies are needed to manage these challenges. Healthcare organizations also need to continuously discover useful and actionable knowledge to gain insight from tons of data being generated for saving lives, reducing medical errors, enhancing efficiency, reducing costs and making the whole world a healthy place.

The book introduces techniques that developed using Machine Learning along with Swarm Intelligence in healthcare informatics. It also discusses one of the major applications of artificial intelligence: using Machine Learning to extract useful information from multimodal data optimally by using Swarm Intelligence. It reviews optimization methods that help to minimize the error in developing patterns and classifications, which further helps improve prediction and decision-making. The objective of this book is to use Swarm Intelligence and Machine Learning techniques for various medical issues such as diagnosing cancer, brain tumor, diabetic retinopathy, heart diseases as well as drug design and development. The book will act as one-stop reference to think and explore Swarm Intelligence and Machine Learning algorithms seriously for real-time patient diagnosis.


About the Author:

Dr Shikha Agrawal is Director, Centre for University Placement, Training & Corporate Affairs, Rajiv Gandhi Proudyogiki Vishwavidyalaya, and Associate Professor in the Department of Computer Science & Engineering at the University Institute of Technology, RGPV, Bhopal, MP, India. She obtained B.E., M.Tech. and Ph.D. in Computer Science & Engineering. She has more than seventeen years of teaching experience. Her area of interest is artificial intelligence, soft computing, computational intelligence and particle swarm optimization. She has published more than 50 research papers in different SCI/SCIE/Scopus/UGC approved reputed international journals and 04 patents. She authored one book on Advanced Database Management System and 12 chapters with international publishers. She is heading research projects from various government organizations. For her outstanding research work in Information Technology, she has been awarded as Young Scientist by Madhya Pradesh Council of Science and Technology, Bhopal. She has been elected as an IEEE senior member and participated in numerous (more than 15) conference presentations (including invited and peer-reviewed oral presentations and panel discussions) and chaired technical sessions in various international conferences and also served as a member of reviewer committee of International Journal of Computer Science and Information Security, USA, and many international conferences of IEEE, Springer, etc.

Manish Gupta is Assistant Professor in Computer Science and Engineering in Amity University, Gwalior, MP, India. He has done B.E. from MITS Gwalior, MP, India, and M.Tech from ABV-IIITM Gwalior, MP, India. He is also pursuing Ph.D. from RGPV Bhopal, MP, India. He is 4-times GATE and 02-times NET qualified. He has published more than 25 research papers in various journals, IEEE conferences, Springer conferences. He has organized 02 IEEE special sessions and 01 Springer special session. He is also editorial board members of various organizations and journals. He has published two books. He has awarded 10 M. Tech thesis. He is currently working on a Central Govt. Project Unnat Bharat Abhiyan sanctioned by the Govt. of India. He is also working on research project on A new GUI based image cryptography using random key for IoT sanctioned by RGPV university Bhopal MP-India under TEQIP-III. He has completed a project on Cyber Security & Digital India Awareness Program for Rural Area sanctioned by Madhya Pradesh Council of Science & Technology Bhopal, MP, India.

Dr Jitendra Agrawal is an Associate Professor and Dean- Student Welfare in the School of Information Technology at the Rajiv Gandhi Proudyogiki Vishwavidyalaya, MP, India. He is a Teacher, Researcher and Consultant in the field of Computer Science and Information Technology. He earned his Master Degree from Samrat Ashok Technology Institute, Vidisha, MP, India in 1997 and awarded Doctor of Philosophy in Computer & Information Technology in 2012. He has 23 years of teaching and 18 years of research experience with a significant number of citations with h-index and i-index. He has organized several IEEE, ACM and Springer conferences in the capacity of conference Program Chair and editor of conference proceeding. His research interests include Database, Data Structure, Data Mining, Soft Computing and Computational Intelligence. He has published more than 70 publications in International Journals and Conferences, 04 patents filed, 12 chapters and three books. He is the recipient of the Best Professor in Information Technology award by the World Education Congress in 2013. He has participated in many Workshops/ Seminars/ Staff Development Programme (SDP) organized at National and International levels as Resource Person, Key note speaker, Session chairman, Moderator, Panellist, etc.

Dr Dac-Nhuong Le is Ph.D in Computer Science, Deputy-Head of Faculty of Information Technology, Haiphong University, Vietnam. Presently, he is also the Deputy-Head of Department of Educational Testing and Quality Assurance, Vice-Director of Information Technology Apply Centre in the same university. He is a research scientist of Research and Development Centre of Visualization & Simulation in (CSV), Duytan University, Danang, Vietnam. He has a total academic teaching experience of 10 years with many publications in reputed international conferences, journals and online book chapter contributions. His area of research include: evaluation computing and approximate algorithms, network communication, security and vulnerability, network performance analysis and simulation, cloud computing and image processing in biomedical. His core work in network security, wireless, soft computing and mobile computing. Recently, he has been the technique program committee, the technique reviews, the track chair for international conferences: FICTA 2014, CSI 2014, IC4SD 2015, ICICT 2015, INDIA 2015, IC3T 2015, INDIA 2016, FICTA 2016 under Springer-ASIC Series. Presently, he is serving in the editorial board of international journals under AIRCC Publishing Corporation, Wireilla Scientific Publications.

Dr Kamlesh Kumar Gupta is Professor in Rustamji Institute of Technology (RJIT), BSF Academy, Tekanpur, MP, India. He completed B.E., M.Tech, and Ph.D. in Computer Science and Engineering from RGPV Bhopal, MP, India. He has published more than 40 research papers in various journals and conferences. He organized international conference in emerging trends of computer science and its applications in RJIT. Also, he organized various training course on computer literacy in Border Security Force Academy, Tekanpur (MHA). He also guided 07 Ph.D. in various universities like RGPV, Uttrakhand Technical University, Amity University, Gwalior. He is guiding 10 M.Tech. thesis. He is a member of CSI, IETE, and member in BOG of RGPV University, Bhopal.
