Juli 1950 in Nürnberg ein Deutsch französisch Söldnerführer, als Konsul h.c. für die VR Angola in Colmar Frankreich und als Konsul h.c. für Uganda tätig. Er selbst nannte sich "Colonel Duthel" und war auch als "Le Attaché" bekannt. Leben Duthel diente im späten Vietnamkrieg und im Tschad in der französischen Legion und als persönlicher Berater der KNLU /KNU in Myanmar/Katholei, wäre UN Botschafter für die KNU, bevor er sich in den 90er Jahren als Söldner selbständig machte. In der Folge bescherten ihm die zahlreichen Stellvertreterkriege des Kalten Krieges immer neue Beschäftigungsfelder. So war er mit Söldnertruppen an Putschversuchen und Bürgerkriegen beteiligt, unter anderem in Biafra, Gabun, Angola, Zaire, Simbabwe, Benin, im Nordjemen, Burma, Somalia und in Afghanistan. Oftmals wurden seine Aktionen in Afrika vom französischen Geheimdienst gedeckt. Für Frankreich waren sie die Möglichkeit, in Konflikte in den ehemaligen Kolonien Einzugreifen, ohne dass es zu völkerrechtlichen Verwicklungen für die Republik kam.
