The love I found is one that you can only give yourself; it is a duplication of the love given by your Highest Power. When you have reached this highest form of love, including true acknowledgements and accountability, the truth of your life will be evident, no longer a mystery covered in self-deception and you will know the reason you were created. Your purpose in life will glisten like a raindrop on a sunny day and, although you must continue your journey of truth, you will be able to assist others in finding theirs. You will also have the blessed joy of finally being able to TAKE OFF your old, heavy winter coat! When I look back over my life now, I can truly understand why I could not see my true worth. Like most of us, I had issues that draped my personality and blurred my vision; my true self was beyond recognition. Thank God for the tools I've received on my journey because I am now unleashed, unburdened and weightless, empowered for a greater destiny! Me, Me, Me is who I found and the following is how, one layer at a time, I peeled off my old heavy winter coat of mine.
About the Author: Born in San Francisco, CA to two teens, Vera Moore was raised in a time leading toward change. The word on the street was "Civil Rights" and both of her parents were advocates in the community in their own way. They raised Vera Moore to know and understand the difference between RIGHT and WRONG although those lines seemed very blurred. Both parents had a history with drugs which lead her down a difficult road full of molestation, drugs, prostitution, violence, and imprisonment, and to the death of her beloved father. She was the oldest grandchild on both her parent's side, but the only child to her mother, who became a single parent when Vera was two years old. Vera Moore withstood abuse as a child, some physical, but mostly mental and emotional which caused her to suffer from Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder and turn to self-medicating and mutilation. The trauma Vera experienced manifested in various ways such as fighting with the police, until one day, she found herself in a single cell, in solitary confinement, away from all others with nothing but a Bible and the voices in her head. She sought refuge and decided that suicide was not the way after reading a passage from the Bible that jumped off the page into her heart. Her drug addiction of 20 years, off and on, awarded her two things, understanding of addiction and self-pity as well as the ability to help others learn how to move on from their past. Through it all she had four children, remained married to the same man, now for 28 years, and has mended a very estranged relationship with her mother. She has learned how to hold herself accountable and set personal boundaries. She lives a life of service now, giving back to people who find themselves having to find their way out from the darkness that plagues hardships and trauma. She founded and is the Director of True Beginnings and lends her heart and services to her community from her soul through this non profit, now a drug and crime free resident of Hampton, VA.
