About the Author: John Herbst is a Colorado native, growing up his first nineteen years in the northern Colorado town of Greeley. John lived several years of his adult life in Estes Park, Glen Haven, Drake, and Loveland. He grew up on the high plains and farmland of Colorado as a child, and enjoyed many camping trips with his family, belonging to several membership organizations over the years. As an adult, John ofttimes explored the dramatic Colorado Rocky Mountains, becoming well versed in the outdoor activities of camping, mountain climbing hiking, backpacking, snowshoeing, and cross-country skiing. He knows the mighty Rockies in great detail. John has three daughters, Monica, Rachael, and Veronica, who live in Idaho, Colorado, and Florida. He currently lives with his wife, Cindy, at sea level, on the central Oregon coast of the United States.
