1. SPESCADA - The Sugar Hollow Twins are on a visit to Grams one summer. While walking in the rain, Markee discovers cicadas clinging to the trees. She continually says 'spescada' and Chad is annoyed listening to her. The children watch, as a cicada sheds its skin. That morning, in - c, Bible Class, the teacher had referred to good deeds and bad deeds as piles of clean clothes and piles of dirty clothes. The children discuss the meaning of the story while walking on the path to Grams. Grams is waiting with fresh baked cookies. She explained the story while the children enjoy milk and cookies. Markee continued to tease Chad with 'spescada.' Grams helped Chad to learn patience with his teasing sister. 2. BLUEBERRY RUN - Jason and a neighboring farmer, Mr. Casey, climb the mountain to pick blueberries. Jason didn't keep Mr. Casey's red suspenders in view. He became lost from Mr. Casey and very frightened. Running wildly through the woods and down the mountain, then up the neighboring mountain, Jason kept calling for Mr. Casey. Finally, he sat to rest, fell asleep, and remembered something Dad had said to do when you are lost. 3. BANISHMENT OF THE BOISTEROUS BASSOON. - The bassoon is excited when he is chosen to join the orchestra. But the orchestra cannot play beautiful music because the bassoon is playing so loud that they cannot find their notes. The bassoon is banished from the orchestra. 4. DANE DANE THE GREAT DANE AND LITTLE TERRY TERRIOR - Terry Terrier is excited to be at the Derby and very much wants his old masters horse to win the race. Dane Dane The Great Dane who is braggadocios and speaks only in rhyme, and enjoys making the little Terrier feel inferior, is certain that his masters horse will win the race. However, Little Terry Terrier saves the Great Dane from drowning and they become friends.
