Education of twentieth century have made a determined all empt to base their pedagogical practices on the lates psychological theoreis, assuming that "latest" must also mean 'best'. The task has been completed by the fact that the theoretical underpinnings of American psychology have shifeted from structuralisma nd functionalism to associationism, to Gestalt psychology and psychoanalysis, and then to a short of electic, functionalistic behaviourism-all within seventy-five years. William James' Talks to Teachers, delivered frist orally and then published as a book in 1899, was read widely in teacher training institutions. James offered many psychological knowledge and common sense provided a sound ground for teaching.Several efforts were made to find new and better ways of educating teachers during the 1950s and 1960s. Some of the new programmes prepared individuals for them teaching rather than self-contained classrooms. Some prepared teachers to make better use of teacher machines, television and other new kinds of equipment. About Author : Mr. Gopala Krishna, M.Sc., M.Ed., M.Phil. is a young and emergetic teacher educator working stringently for quality education. He is a lecturer in S.K.M. College of Education, Mukhteswaram, East Godavari Dist. (A.P.).Dr. Digumarti Bhaskara Rao (9 June 1957), M.Sc., M.A., M.A., M.Ed., Ph.D., a teacher educator with a university rank, has had his higher education from Andhra Bhopal, Nagarjuna and Osmania Universitys. He is author, co-author and editor of about 250 books that include 8 encyclopaedia and has published more than 400 research papers and general articles on science and education in India and abroad.He has co-chaired a symposium in an International Conference on Psychology held at Martin Luther University, Halle-Wittenberg, Germany; acted as a group leader in an International Seminar on Educational Leadership and Social Changes held at Tallinn Pedagogical University, Tallinn, Estonia; and studied the educational programmes in Bhutan. He has contributed papers to the International Conferences held in Australia, Asutria, Canada, Czechoslovakia, Denmark, Finland, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Hong Kong, Israel, Italy, Malta, Netherlands, Norway, Spain, Sri Lanka, U.K. and U.S.A., besides to numerous National Seminars, Conferences and Workshops. He has acted as a resource person in many teacher orientation programmes and science popularization activities. He has also participated as a Resource Person in teleconferencing to orient Mandal Resource Persons and faculty and students of District Institutes of Education and Training.
