About the Author:

Wolfram Schiffmann studierte Elektrotechnik an der Universität des Saarlandes und arbeitete danach als wissenschaftlicher Mitarbeiter an der Universität in Koblenz. Gleichzeitig promovierte er zum Dr.-Ing. an der Universität des Saarlandes. In Koblenz lehrte er im Fachbereich Informatik und habilitierte sich dort für das Fachgebiet Technische Informatik. Seit Sommer 2000 ist er Professor für das Lehrgebiet Rechnerarchitektur an der Fakultät für Mathematik und Informatik der FernUniversität in Hagen.

Helmut Bähring studierte zunächst Mathematik an der Ruhr-Universität Bochum. Danach war er mehrere Jahre in der Fakultät für Elektrotechnik der Universität Dortmund als wissenschaftlicher Mitarbeiter tätig. Während dieser Jahre absolvierte er nebenberuflich an der FernUniversität in Hagen ein Zweitstudium in Informatik. Seit dem Abschluss dieses Studiums ist er im Bereich der Technischen Informatik an der FernUniversität als Akademischer Oberrat tätig, wo er auch zum Dr. rer. nat. promovierte.

Udo Hönig war mehrere Jahre bei einem Großrechenzentrum in Köln angestellt, wo er nach einer Ausbildung zum Mathematisch-technischen Assistenten und einer einjährigen Beschäftigung als Anwendungsentwickler über fünf Jahre in der Netzwerkplanung tätig war. Nach dem erfolgreichen Abschluss seines nebenberuflich an der FernUniversität in Hagen absolvierten Informatikstudiums wechselte er an das dortige Lehrgebiet für Rechnerarchitektur, an dem er auch nach seiner Promotion zum Dr. rer. nat. weiter als wissenschaftlicher Mitarbeiter beschäftigt ist.
