T.E.F.T.A. & Two Black Widow Spiders
This is Michael Candell's story.
Thirty Eight years old. And a very wealthy man.
The early death of his wife, Julie, has left him devastated. His childhood sweetheart. The only woman he has ever loved. Irreplaceable. Or so he believed.
Consumed with grief, he decides to cut himself off from the rest of the world. He loses all his friends.
He realises he is going to have to make some contact, for practical reasons.
Needing to employ a cleaning agency for the large property he has moved into after Julie's death he comes into contact with Jane Maitland, the owner of the agency he has invited to give him a quotation.
Jane is beautiful. A divorcee. She has no intention of ever trusting a man again after the heartbreak she has suffered from her failed marriage.
Until she comes into contact with Michael.
A business relationship slowly becomes a loving relationship. Then, an intensely loving relationship.
Michael still values his privacy and rarely leaves Channel Vista, the property he now shares with Jane.
On one of the few occasions he ventures outside Channel Vista he finds himself at the scene of a murder. The victim is known to him. His first instinct is to leave the scene. To run away from it. To guard his privacy. He does not inform the police.
But there are others close to the scene but hidden from view. The murderers. And they photograph him. He is not aware of them.
Little did he know his presence at the murder scene would be the start of a series of events which would bring him into contact with a ruthless criminal syndicate. The European Finance and Trading Agency. T.E.F.T.A. for short. And, in particular, one of the Anglo German women commanding that organisation. The woman likes to be called the black widow spider.
Committed to her criminal enterprise, the black widow spider has Michael captured. Her objective: to persuade him to stop interfering with her agency's operations. But. For the first time in her life she finds herself committed in a very different way. To Michael. He has stimulated feelings in her she has never felt before.
She has a mission. She has to have Michael, whatever that takes.
At an early stage Michael decided to make a record. Starting with his discovery of the murder. Looking back he realises that at no point in his narrative was he really in control of events. And...how much did destiny play a part? The tragedies. The intrigues. Maybe some things are meant to be. And really! How much would he want to change if history could be manipulated?
