About the Book

Alf Poss war ein Vordenker seiner Zeit, nicht nur mit seiner Prosa "Hinausgeschwommen" bewegte er sich gedanklich in eine ferne Zukunft. Auch mit seinem Theaterstück "Wie ein Auto funktionierte" nahm er 1970 schon das Ende des Autozeitalters vorweg - sozusagen als Metapher einer Zeitenwende. Ebenso sein Theaterstück "Zwei Hühner werden geschlachtet" war mehr als ein archaisches Ritual auf der Theaterbühne - aus heutiger Sicht ein voraus genommener Blick auf die Massentierhaltung. Grosse schriftstellerische Vielseitigkeit bewies Alf Poss in seinen zahlreichen modernen Hörspielen zum Beispiel "Besuch aus London" und in seinen späteren Gedichten.
About the Author: Alf Poss war ein deutscher Dramatiker und Schriftsteller. Er wurde am 2. August 1936 in Ulm geboren und starb am 7. Januar 2003 in München. Alf Poss begann sein Philosophie-Studium 1957 an der New York University und setzte es von 1959 bis 1963 mit dem Schwerpunkt Publizistik an der Hochschule für Gestaltung in Ulm fort. 1964 war er Teilnehmer des Literarischen Colloquiums unter Leitung von Walter Höllerer in Berlin, 1970 erhielt er das Suhrkamp Dramatikerstipendium. Nach einem Aufenthalt als Studiengast der Deutschen Akademie in der Villa Massimo in Rom von 1972 bis 1973 wurde Alf Poss 1975 dann Honorary Fellow in Writing an der University of Iowa in den USA. Alf Poss schrieb neben Theaterstücken Hörspiele, Prosa, und eigenwillige Lyrik. Sein erstes Theaterstück, "Zwei Hühner werden geschlachtet", erschien noch vor der geplanten Uraufführung (die im Spätherbst 1969 in Essen als Inszenierung von Claus Leininger stattfinden sollte) im Suhrkamp Verlag. Es kam zu einem großen Skandal: Im Stück ist die Schlachtung zweier Hühner auf der Bühne vorgesehen. Dies ließ neben Essen auch das Staatstheater Braunschweig und das Junge Theater Göttingen vor der Aufführung des Stückes zurückschrecken. So fand die Uraufführung erst 1971 auf der Experimenta 4 in Frankfurt am Main durch die Erlanger Studentenbühne statt. Besondere Aufmerksamkeit und Ablehnung durch Tierschützer fand 2002 eine Inszenierung der Werkstattbühne in Würzburg. Auch die Uraufführung seines Theaterstückes und Anti-Auto-Spiels "Wie ein Auto funktionierte" erregte Aufsehen, weil Schauspieler der Bühnen in Kassel und Ulm die Mitwirkung an der Inszenierung verweigerten. Poss übersetzte 1991 George Bernard Shaws "Die Millionärin" ins Deutsche und schrieb u. a. Prosa und Gedichte in seiner Wahlheimat Marokko.
