Los Tellos de Meneses es una obra teatral significativa que forma parte de la vasta producción del prolífico dramaturgo español Lope de Vega. Publicada en la Parte XXI en 1635, después del fallecimiento del poeta, esta comedia junto a su continuación Valor, fortuna y lealtad destaca como un ejemplo único de dípticos dramáticos creados por Lope de Vega. Estas obras representan acercamientos interesantes a la materia histórica-genealógica y resaltan entre sus últimas creaciones como dramaturgo.

La trama de Los Tellos de Meneses se basa en una leyenda que circulaba en la época sobre el origen del linaje de los Téllez de Meneses. La historia sigue a la infanta Elvira, quien huye del palacio ante la propuesta de matrimonio concertada por su padre, el rey Ordoño, con el rey moro de Valencia. En su huida, Elvira se convierte en criada en la casa de los Meneses, una familia de ricos e hidalgos labradores montañeses. La obra se centra en las relaciones entre Elvira y los dos Tellos de la familia: el patriarca Tello, un anciano avaro pero bondadoso, y su joven y ambicioso hijo también llamado Tello.

La pieza aborda temas de honra villana, identidad y ambiciones en la corte. El conflicto gira en torno a las aspiraciones de los personajes, sus decisiones y su búsqueda de identidad. La trama culmina con la reconciliación de Elvira y su padre, y con la bendición real al amor entre la infanta y el joven Tello. Esta unión matrimonial simboliza el ascenso social de los Meneses y la reivindicación de sus orígenes rurales.

La creación de Los Tellos de Meneses se enmarca en el contexto de los últimos años de Lope de Vega como dramaturgo.
