About the Book

This Candle Is Lit for Thee is the incredibly scary story of a man who is being followed by a ghost. Aaron Mathews is stranded on a lonely highway and must find shelter for the night. Deep in the woods he sees an eerie, flickering light, coming from an abandoned farmhouse. Inside the farmhouse is an antique hurricane lamp with a lit candle inside and a message inscribed on withered parchment; This Candle Is Lit for Thee, lying on the table. In the farmhouse he finds a leather-bound journal written in the 1800s by Isaac Ogelsby and an intricately carved knife. He survives a ghostly visit that night and the ghost follows him to a restored colonial hotel, managed by a man who believes we were still fighting the Revolutionary War, then follows him to a hotel where there is blackout, during a Quinnipiac hockey game. Continuing his trip, he meets a woman who lives at a hippie commune. He agrees to spend the night, but the ghost reappears, looking for his son. At the commune, Aaron meets a hippie woman, named Hester, who pens a poem that leads him to an abandoned graveyard. At every stop, the ghost leaves him a lit candle inside a hurricane lamp, and the same message; This Candle Is Lit for Thee on withered parchment. At the graveyard, he finds the gravesite of Isaac Ogelsby, who has left him a gift hidden beneath his gravestone. While trying to leave he is attacked by angry spirits that protect the graves of the dead, and is rescued by Isaac Ogelsby, the ghost who is haunting him.Is the woman Hester who led him to the graveyard with her poem, a witch? How did she know the location of the ghost's grave? After a visit to his home in Canada, he returns to his job as the editor and writer of Colonial Antiques, a magazine of colonial history and becomes famous for writing about his ghostly visits. But he knows he must return to the haunted Ogelsby Farm to discover why he is being followed by a ghost. What would you do If you were being followed by a ghost?
