Bachelorarbeit aus dem Jahr 2015 im Fachbereich Germanistik - Neuere Deutsche Literatur, Note: 1,3, Ruhr-Universität Bochum, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Im Zentrum dieser wissenschaftlichen Arbeit stehen hauptsächlich die Verfallsphänomene des Romans "Buddenbrooks" Warum zerbricht die Familie Buddenbrook? Welche Symptome der Dekadenz lassen sich ausmachen? Woran genau werden die Erscheinungen des Niederganges sichtbar? Welche Entwicklung durchlaufen die Figuren des Werks? Um diese Fragen klären zu können, erfolgen eine Analyse und zugleich eine Interpretation ausgewählter Textstellen des Buches, wobei verschiedene Positionen von Autoren wie beispielsweise Ernst Keller, Claudia Bahnsen, Helmut Koopmann und weitere hinzugezogen werden, die sich in ihren Werken intensiv mit der Thematik der Dekadenz beschäftigt haben. Ziel der Untersuchungen ist es, den fortschreitenden unaufhaltsamen Zerfall der Familie an verschiedenen Aspekten aufzuzeigen und zu erläutern. Zu Beginn der Bachelorarbeit werden der Handlungsverlauf sowie die Romanfiguren grob skizziert, um dem Leser den Einstieg in das Thema zu erleichtern. Darüber hinaus wird auf die literarische "Décadence", ihre typischen Merkmale und Vertreter Bezug genommen. In diesem Zusammenhang sind auch Wagner, Schopenhauer und Nietzsche von großer Wichtigkeit - die letzten beiden gelten als Philosophen der Dekadenz, welche Thomas Mann in seiner Periode des Schaffens beeinflusst haben: Lassen sich im Roman philosophische Elemente finden? Darauf folgt die Analyse der Verfallsphänomene, welche, wie bereits angegeben, den Schwerpunkt der Arbeit bildet: Zunächst werden die Symptome und Leitmotive des Niedergangs untersucht; anschließend werden die einzelnen Romanfiguren einer genaueren Betrachtung unterzogen. Ferner wird auf die Funktion des Erzählers in Bezug auf die Dekadenz eingegangen. In einem Fazit finden sich noch einmal die wichtigsten Ergebnisse und Erkenntnisse sowie ein Forschungsausblick.
