About the Book

In the near future, the United States suffers an increasing number of terrorist acts that culminate with the destruction of a U.S. Army base on foreign soil. President Alexander is ready to mount a massive response to eliminate the terrorist threat once and for all. Before he can pull that trigger, he has an "out of this world" epiphany that causes him to change everything he had originally planned. Three key members of the National Security Council agree to work together to put President Alexander and the United States back on track in eliminating the terrorists. The race is on to see if the President's peace initiative survives the tremendous opposition from all sides to subvert it. The ending is full of surprises as the best and worst of both sides reshape the future of humanity through an extraordinary discovery.
About the Author: The author of Through the Valley of Death: Armageddon, John Schroeder, was 45 years old when he wrote his first book. He was a natural entrepreneur and started his first company at 23. His writing skills were initially geared toward selling products and services rather than trying to educate and entertain. Along the way John married, earned a BBA in Finance, an MBA in Marketing, a First Class Radiotelephone FCC license, was promoted to Captain in the U.S. Army Reserve, ordained as a non-denominational minister, and became a member of Mensa. His interest in science and academics shifted when he discovered the World Wide Web in the 1990s. That was when chat rooms became popular on the internet. John began discussing and debating a variety of topics by exchanging thousands of written posts with others who had similar interests online. Those digital exchanges became the basis for John's first book in 1999. God in a Chat Room, now out of print, presented a compilation of internet discussions John had over the years. He explored many intriguing and controversial subjects about life, science and spirituality. John's next book, The Price of Prosperity, was published in 2003. It is a self-help guide that examines the laws of prosperity and features John's personal experiences as he applied those concepts in his own life. In 2012, John's writing went in a new direction with the intention of reaching a wider readership. Using a Q&A format, the book Let Not Your Heart Be Troubled offers an uplifting and positive perspective of life. The heartfelt and humorous conversations assert that we live in a friendly, childproof universe. While all of John's books have been well received, he had long desired to write a fictional novel based on the spiritual concepts detailed in his other publications. During lunch one afternoon with his wife, Stephanie, John envisioned the theme for such a book. Stephanie took notes as John created a fantastic, yet plausible, scenario for an optimistic future made possible with the discovery of sophisticated technology. That idea grew into more than just one book. This novel marks the first adventure in a trilogy that blends fact, fiction and spirituality into an intriguing story and world view of better days to come. John is now retired and devotes his time to his wife, his furry canine children, public speaking, writing books and articles as well as playing sports and hiking the local mountains near his home in Scottsdale, Arizona.
