About the Book

The city-state of Merina has no means to stop an invading army, so Dowager Queen Adele, Queen Lydana, and Princess Shelyra disappear from the palace. Hiding in places no one would suspect, they lead a counter-attack against the Emperor and his forces.
About the Author: Marion Zimmer Bradley is probably best known for her Darkover novels and her best-selling Arthurian novel THE MISTS OF AVALON. In addition to her novels, Mrs. Bradley edited many magazines, amateur and professional, including Marion Zimmer Bradley's FANTASY Magazine, which she started in 1988, and an annual anthology, SWORD AND SORCERESS. For more information, see her website: www.mzbworks.com. Mercedes Lackey graduated from Purdue University in 1972 with a Bachelor of Science in Biology. This, she soon learned, along with a paper hat and a nametag will qualify you to ask "would you like fries with that?" at a variety of fast-food locations. She had always written from her early teens and developed this hobby by writing fan-fiction for various amateur magazines. In the 1980s she met both Marion Zimmer and C J Cherryh, both of whom helped mentor her from amateur into professional writer. Her first book was published in 1985. Misty is approaching 100 books in print, and her foreign editions include Russian, German, Czech, Polish, French, Italian, Turkish, and Japanese. She is the author, alone or in collaboration, of the Heralds of Valdemar, Elemental Masters, Secret World Chronicles, 500 Kingdoms, Diana Tregarde, Heirs of Alexandria, Obsidian Mountain, Dragon Jouster, Bedlam Bards, Shadow Grail, and other series and standalone books. A night-owl by nature, she is generally found at the keyboard between 10 PM and 6 AM. For more information, see her website: www.mercedeslackey.com. Andre Norton is perhaps best known as the author of the Witch World novels and wrote over 100 books, including at least one beginning with each letter of the alphabet. She was named a Grandmaster by the Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers of America.
