About the Book

The story is set in Thailand in the late 1970s. Todd Harris is a genius and one of America's leading scientists in electronic miniaturization and nuclear bomb design. He is considered a national asset.
However, he feels his life is over as he has been fighting cancer and his fiancé has left him. June, his twin sister, convinces him to take a lectureship in Thailand seeking to broaden his interests and experiences. It works. Todd falls in love with exotic Thailand, makes some good friends and gets immersed in gemology and scuba diving.
While Todd's in Thailand, the CIA is tasked with ensuring his security. But their job is not easy as he craves excitement and wants to take chances - he has a death wish.
His presence in Thailand comes to the attention of the Pakistan intelligence service and a plot develops to kidnap him in pursuit of nuclear weapon development secrets. The CIA uncovers this plan and uses the unwitting Todd as bait in a scheme to set back Pakistan's bomb development.
About the Author: I'm a fiction writer...I tell lies for a living.

My real name is Glen Witter but I have been writing fiction under the pen name of C. EDGAR NORTH. To date, I have completed six novels, all in the Action/Thriller/Espionage genre entitled:
NIGHTHAWK CROSSING;
NIGHTHAWK: AFRICAN ICE;
NIGHTHAWK: CHIEF HAZEL;
BLOOD, FIRE AND ICE;
NIGHTHAWK: THE DEACON; and
THE ART FLOGGER.
My writing is best labeled as verisimilitude as many real events that inspired the novels have been fictionalized. Experiences gleaned from working in over 30 countries enriches geographic detail and provides the opportunity to enlarge and fictionalize some characters.
I live in Summerland and, of course, local geography and situations pop up in many of the novels. The Similkameen, and Okanagan valleys are featured in three of the novels.
NIGHTHAWK CROSSING is the first in a four part series featuring high-level smuggling. BLOOD, FIRE AND ICE, on the other hand concerns Big Oil trying to stifle some Arctic researchers. THE ART FLOGGER follows the adventurous life of a fine art auctioneer who tangles with a drug cartel. TODD'S GUARDIANS is a spy story based in exotic Thailand in the late 1970's.
