About the Author: Gordon Van Wechel is an entrepreneur who has built three national companies, each in a different industry. Previously, he has written five books, numerous articles and training manuals, and he has been cited by all four of the major television networks as an expert in business marketing. Gordon is a frequent speaker to business groups, and he teaches a marketing class to new business owners on behalf of the Service Corps of Retired Executives (SCORE) division of the Small Business Administration. In addition to his own enterprises, he has traveled extensively in Asia, Africa, and the Middle East on behalf of several non-governmental organizations. His work there has focused on micro-enterprise programs that, to date, have resulted in the creation of over five hundred successful businesses, seventeen village schools, and numerous community development projects. He is currently the President of The Alchemy Consulting Group, a marketing strategy and business-growth firm based in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Jennine Michael, CEO of The Alchemy Consulting Group, is a New Mexico native and a graduate of UNM who has a strong background in business. Formerly, she was affiliated with Lincoln National, focused on business insurance, until joining Merrill Lynch as an investment broker. Jennine is also the founder of Chef Michael Cakes, a specialty and wedding cake boutique bakery. Her focus in business has always been on building and retaining client relationships. She managed her late husband's dental practice, coming to know the unique business qualities and needs of a professional practice. After his death, she learned how to sell and transfer a professional practice, and how important it is to plan properly for a transition of that nature.
