When diagnosed with a serious illness, Jacqui Martin considers it a temporary derailment. It's a revelation of how Martin found an abundance of support in the form of life lessons while traveling the globe, by embracing eastern traditions to understand deeper healing, and through spiritual opening, which softened her pain and eased her suffering. We discover that she accepted the beauty of nature as her teacher, learned about sacred ceremony and tradition in other faiths, and that she symbolically died in order to come back to life. Traveling Sunwise is about diving for the pearls in our lives, and when we find them, we are told to try and make sense of how they made us who we are.
About the Author: Jacqui Martin was born in London, England, the third of five children. She lived much of her life overseas until she started college. She received a B.S. from Virginia Tech, worked on her MSW at VCU, and ultimately received her Doctor of Chiropractic in Houston, Texas. In the 70's and 80's, Dr. Martin lived in Houston, Texas. She moved to Houston following a two year backpacking expedition through Europe and Africa. In Houston, she married, started a family and began practicing. Since 1989, she has lived and practiced in Connecticut. Following her second episode of cancer, she decided to pay more attention to her health and retired from both Chiropractic and Acupuncture and began writing full time. She brought her unique knowledge and understanding of being both a complimentary doctor and a patient to her new book TRAVELING SUNWISE. It is a story of health and healing; of how all the pieces of our life fit together and shape who we become; and it is a story of hope and how the sacred comes in and helps us heal if we are willing. Dr. Martin lives in the hills of Northwest Connecticut.
