About the Book

Joseph Willis, es un joven introvertido y soñador, vive con sus padres y dos hermanos, junto a los cuales trabaja en la granja familiar. Desilusionado por las pérdidas y la falta de mercado para la producción, una tarde, mientras almorzaban, narra a su familia sus más anhelados sueños de vida. Con el fin de lograrlos, solicitó a sus padres permiso para marcharse a la ciudad. Soñaba con conseguir un trabajo en la ciudad, para desde allí emprender una ardua lucha por alcanzar sus más grandes propósitos. Transformar la granja de la familia en una empresa organizada y eficiente era un gran sueño, pero sus aspiraciones iban más lejos; soñaba con poseer negocios propios y ser un empresario exitoso e influyente en su país. Sus hermanos lo nombraron "el soñador de las cosas imposibles," no obstante, después de cumplir los dieciséis años, partió a la ciudad. Su primer trabajo fue como sirviente en una tienda y, desde allí, comenzó a trabajar sus metas de vida. Trabajó duro. Durante cincuenta y cuatro años no conoció el descanso ni el esparcimiento; nunca dedicó tiempo para él, todo a costa de alcanzar lo que deseaba. Diseñó un mundo que le brindó fama y reconocimiento. Había logrado todo aquello que imaginó, sin embargo, se olvidó de lo más importante: su vida, su familia y el placer de vivir. Cuando cumplió setenta años, comprendió que había triturado su vida. Empujado por su esposa y, después de asistir a una conferencia sobre superación personal, comenzó a entender que cada día era un valioso tesoro que él no había aprovechado. A partir de ese momento, Joseph dio un giro a su vida. Comenzó a quererse a sí mismo y a su familia, y a fortalecer sus lazos de amistad. Dejó a un lado las ataduras, los compromisos y las preocupaciones que tanto habían vapuleado su vida, y dedicó el más mínimo segundo de cada día a darle vida a su vida: decidió vivir.
