About the Book

Why does the United States lead all the industrialized nations in divorce, broken families, and gun violence? It is because men, specifically fathers, have failed to do the job God ordained them to do. We don't need more gun control laws, we need more dads stepping up to the plate and leading their families in the right direction. But what does "right" look like? This book offers biblically based advice on raising children to become responsible adults. This is how one couple did it. It has been said that kids believe half of what they hear you say, but believe all of what they see you do! The best way to shape your kids' attitudes is to demonstrate the value of good practices. That's what this couple shares in this book - their collection of best practices. Many of the topics and practices addressed in this book are rooted in the Bible's Book of Proverbs. They do not intend to offer universal advice to the reader, but to challenge the reader into reflective thinking and researching their own answers with the questions posed at the end of each of the chapters. The book contains three parts. Part I is written to fathers. It helps lay out issues to think thru and look for during the child's formative years. The discussion questions at the end of the chapters give the reader plenty of things to think about and discuss in order to be proactive with their child instead of reactive. It's all about setting the best conditions for children as they grow and mature into the next phase in life. Part II is written for the fathers to discuss with their sons. It is a short letter that is a collection of topics the author wrote to his son and son-in-law shortly after their marriages. He encourages the reader to write a similar letter to their son(s). The objective of Tribal Wisdom is to get fathers to develop a plan to pass down a good solid legacy to their children. Part III is an outline for a study of the Book of Proverbs. It is included it as way to help jum
