About the Book

Have you ever been stalked by a lioness in Lycra? Did you know that being locked out of your car could lead to great insight? Would you believe one of the nicest things you can do for a friend is to hire a hit man to take care of your boss? Have you ever felt helpless when a loved one faced an illness? Dr. Alan Muskett has long shared his quirky and penetrating insights into the "mediphyical" world. Even as a surgeon and scientist, he shows us the world of medicine as a collage of characters, emotions, belief systems, and spirituality. With an ever-present humor, he explores a spectrum from marine disasters to his daughter's poignant battle with a brain tumor. "True Enough", a successor to "Mostly True," brings you inside the medical world with laughs and love and insight.
About the Author: Dr. Alan Muskett is a native of Missoula, Montana, and holds an English degree from Montana State University, which is widely considered to be the nation's leading institution for thoracic and plastic surgeon writers. He graduated from the University of Washington Medical School, and completed a general surgery residency at the University of Utah. He then served a fellowship in cardiothoracic surgery at Washington University in St. Louis, achieving a PTSD degree there. In 1991 he returned to Montana, practicing cardiothoracic and vascular surgery for the next 12 years, accumulating some good book material along the way. In 2003, at the age of 46, he suffered a typical male midlife crisis, and moved to Jackson, Mississippi, to do a plastic surgery residency. In 2005 he returned to Billings MT and has been in practice in plastic and reconstructive surgery since. This collection of articles is the second for Dr. Muskett, his first book being the international runaway bestseller Mostly True. (A few copies were sold in Canada.) His wife Pamela is his first reader always, and come to think of it, his first wife as well, which is both editorially and financially convenient. His children Sally, Cathy, and Luke are frequent targets for gratuitous humor, but due to the exigencies of educational financing, are tolerant. Dr. Muskett's partners at Billings Plastic Surgery, Drs. Steve Grosso and Jarred McDaniel, are also tolerant, but that has more to do with the necessity for call coverage.
