About the Book

Y'all are invited on this journey along this trail blazed by Tumbleweed Tumblings: Texas Tales and Verses. Climb into this literary saddle and enjoy a ride through the American west. The short stories are embellishments, back stories, or expansions of characters from my novels. Have y'all wondered in reading my Tumbleweed Sagas at the stories that drove the likes of the wise Comanche chief Three Toes or created the evil Horatio Thorpe? What drives protagonist Texas Ranger Luke Dunn's striving for justice? Grit, adventure, and passion are woven throughout these pages. You can sense the aromas of gunsmoke, trail dust, and bluebonnets. And there's poetry. As observed by famed poet T.S. Eliot in The Metaphysical Poets (1921), "Poets in our civilization, as it exists at present, must be difficult...The poet must become more and more comprehensive, more allusive, more indirect, in order to force, to dislocate if necessary, language into its meaning." This anthology above all else is about the values that underlie America. It is like much of my authoring in that I strive to capture the essence of the freedoms, of the opportunities, of the second chances, associated specifically with the American west. Y'all do enjoy.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR:
With Tumbleweed Tumblings: Texas Tales and Verses, fifth-generation Texan Mark Greathouse continues his passion for weaving fiction with history and now with poetry as drawn from his signature Tumbleweed Sagas. In crafting engaging adventures featuring an ensemble of captivating characters woven into compellingly complex subplots, he's stayed true to the western story being America's story. He strives to couple a soul-penetrating creative spirit with extensive historical research that attracts a broad spectrum of readers. Greathouse turned to writing full time after a successful business career. He is a member of Western Writers of America and several poetry societies and local writer groups. View his videos at Tumbleweed.me and on Facebook at Tumbleweed Sagas. He holds BA and MBA degrees. Greathouse lives in Southern Pennsylvania and dreams of retiring to the Texas Hill Country and further connecting with his Texas family roots.
