Daryl Wein discovered he was among the millions of patients with type 2 diabetes while studying to become a Physician Assistant. About the Author: Daryl Wein is a family practice Physician Assistant who both treats diabetics and has type 2 diabetes, himself. He graduated from U.C. Davis School of Medicine in 1999 after working for twenty years as a clinical laboratory scientist. Wein's own experience having type 2 diabetes helped motivate him to write a guidebook meant to help people manage the disease. He learned from a mentor that, while it can cause serious health problems, there are simple steps people can take to control the disease. Wein is also a licensed commercial pilot and flight instructor.
