Studienarbeit aus dem Jahr 2013 im Fachbereich Filmwissenschaft, Note: 1,0, Bauhaus-Universität Weimar (Fakultät Medien), Veranstaltung: Unheimliche Medien im Film, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: In meiner Hausarbeit stelle ich mir die Fragm wie Ton und Musik zur Erzeugung einer unheimlichen Stimmung in Tim Burtons "Sleepy Hollow" eingesetzt werden. Wie schafft es der Komponist zudem die Dramatik und Spannung zu fördern? In meiner Verschriftlichung gehe ich kurz auf das unheimliche Medium Musik ein, ehe ich einzelne Szenen von "Sleepy Hollow" untersuche. Hier soll betrachtet werden, wie Elfman die unheimliche Grundstimmung erzeugt, musikalische Dramatik schafft und welche Funktion seine Musik speziell bei der Schreckensfigur des kopflosen Reiters einnimmt. Bevor ich mit meinem Fazit die Hausarbeit beende, erläutere ich noch das Traum-Thema von Ichabod und wie dieses von Elfman ausgeschmückt wird. Verstörung, Angst und Schrecken - es sind Gefühle die Jeder in seinem Leben am liebsten umgehen würde. Man kennt diese Gefühle aus Erfahrungen und wünscht sich im Moment, in dem man von diesen bedroht wird, wieder erlöst zu werden. In dem Horrorfilmgenre wird die direkte Konfrontation des Zuschauers mit eben jenen Empfindungen praktiziert. Das Publikum setzt sich bewusst den lauernden, wenn auch nur visuellen und akustischen Gefahren aus. Die Emotionen sollen in diesem Genre zur Unterhaltung führen. Mit solch einem Horrorfilm beschäftige ich mich in meiner Hausarbeit und gehe dabei vor allem auf den akustischen Schrecken ein. Tim Burtons Gruselmärchen "Sleepy Hollow - Köpfe werden rollen" basiert auf einer alten amerikanischen Sage, die der Schriftsteller Washington Irving (1783 - 1859) in seiner Erzählung "Die Sage der schläfrigen Schlucht" festhielt. Obwohl Burton diese Legende als Grundlage nutzt, verändert er die ursprünglichen Charaktere Irvings.
