About the Author: Carsten Könneker ist Chefredakteur von Spektrum der Wissenschaft, spektrum.de sowie Gehirn&Geist. Er studierte parallel Physik sowie Literaturwissenschaft, Philosophie und Kunstgeschichte an der RWTH Aachen, der Université Blaise-Pascal in Clermont-Ferrand, der Washington University in Saint Louis sowie der Universität zu Köln. Nach seiner Promotion im Jahr 2000 wurde er Wissenschaftsjournalist bei Spektrum der Wissenschaft, wo er maßgeblich an der Entwicklung des Magazins Gehirn&Geist beteiligt war, das 2002 erstmals erschien und heute in mehreren internationalen Ausgaben verlegt wird. 2007 gründete er das Blognetzwerk SciLogs. 2011 entwickelte er die Kinderheftreihe Spektrum neo, die mit dem renommierten Werner und Inge Grüter-Preis für Wissenschaftsvermittlung ausgezeichnet wurde. 2012 wurde Carsten Könneker auf den Lehrstuhl für Wissenschaftskommunikation und Wissenschaftsforschung des Karlsruher Instituts für Technologie berufen. Von 2012 bis 2015 leitete er außerdem als Gründungsdirektor das Nationale Institut für Wissenschaftskommunikation (NaWik) in Karlsruhe.
