Die Teilnahme am einjährigen International Teachers Program der Harvard Universität- Graduate School of Business Administration - gab mir die Gelegenheit, über unterschiedliche Ansätze zur Lösung betriebswirt- schaftlicher Probleme nachzudenken. Eines dieser Pro- bleme kann das Bestimmen von Zweck, Inhalt und Form Unternehmerischen Handeins sein. Jedoch legt die subjek- tive Forscherentscheidung fest, welchen Ansatz sie wählt; objektive, materielle Forschungsziele fehlen. Des- halb geht es letztlich bei der Untersuchung, worin das Besondere einer bestimmten wissenschaftlichen Konzep- tion besteht, nicht darum zu werten, sondern festzu- stellen. Werten kann man wiederum nur mittels eines subjektiven Maßstabs, etwa der Brauchbarkeit der Kon- zeption für den praktischen Alltag. Läßt sich mit diesem Maßstab der "horizontale Ver- gleich" als besondere betriebswirtschaftliche Betrach- tungsweise durchführen? (Perridon, Louis: Ansätze und Methodik der Vergleichenden Betriebswirtschaftslehre, in: ZfB, 37. Jahrg. Nr. 11, Wiesbaden 1967, S. 683.) Nach Perridon ist dabei der geographische Vergleich gemeint. Dieser setzt voraus, daß sich eine betriebswirtschaftliche Konzeption einem bestimmten regionalen Raum zwin- gend zuordnen läßt, etwa die Unternehmenstheorie der deutschsprachigen Betriebswirtschaftslehre und die Unternehmensstrategie (Harvard spricht von "Business Policy") der amerikanischen Managementlehre. Dies trifft nicht zu, weil in jedem geographischen Bereich unter- schiedliche Forscher verschiedenartige Ansätze ver- treten. Anthropologische Faktoren wirken sich zwar tat- sächlich aus, müssen aber nicht unbedingt zu dem vorge- fundenen Ergebnis führen. 9 Die Aussage sollte deshalb erweitert werden: Der hori- zontale Vergleich ist primär interpersonal angelegt und erst in zweiter Linie international. Harvards Konzeption wird von einer Personengruppe getragen.
