Sie freuen sich mit Kindern arbeiten zu dürfen und ihnen Wissen vermitteln zu können, doch häufig werden sie auf den Boden der Realität zurückgeholt. Die meisten hoffen ein freundschaftliches Verhältnis mit der Klasse aufbauen können und möchten die Schüler und Schülerinnen vom Unterrichtsstoff begeistern. Wie man aber von vielen Erzählungen und Berichten hört, gelingt dies in den seltensten Fällen nur mit Liebe, Verständnis und Freiheit. Die Kinder brauchen Regeln und Vorbilder, an denen sie sich orientieren. Viele Referendare und Referendarinnen, wie auch Lehrer und Lehrerinnen haben Bedenken, dass sie bei ihrer Klasse nicht gut ankommen, wenn sie streng sind. Natürlich ist eine autoritäre Erziehung keine Lösung, da die Schüler und Schülerinnen sich nur anständig benehmen, weil sie Angst vor Konsequenzen haben aber nicht weil sie einsichtig sind. Die Klasse braucht jedoch eine Lehrkraft die sich durchsetzen kann und konsequent ist und konsequent eine Beeinträchtigung des Unterrichts nicht toleriert. Häufig stecken Lehrkräfte viel Arbeits- und Kraftaufwand in die Vorbereitung der Unterrichtsstunden hinein und trotz dieser Mühen sind die Resultate meist enttäuschend und demotivierend. Es gibt einige Handlungen, die den Unterricht unterbrechen können, wie Unkonzentriertheit, Ungenauigkeit, Faulheit, motorische Unruhe, mangelndes Interesse, verbale und physische Aggressionen, mangelndes Selbstvertrauen, Ungehorsamkeit, Kontaktprobleme, unterrichtsfremde Tätigkeiten, Überempfindlichkeit, Clownerien, Wutanfälle, übertriebener Ehrgeiz, Schulangst, psychosomatische Störungen, Beschädigung von Eigentum anderer Personen oder Gegenständen, starke Abhängigkeit, Depressivität, Druck auf Mitschüler und Mitschülerinnen, unregelmäßiger Schu
