Kraalierte Hotspot-Standorte spielen eine entscheidende Rolle bei der Strukturierung des Zusammenlebens von Bäumen und Gräsern auf Hotspot-Flächen, der Futterverfügbarkeit und -qualität sowie der Pflanzenproduktion in Savannensystemen und auf Ranchflächen. In der Vergangenheit wurde gezeigt, dass Krallenstandorte für Pflanzenfresser attraktiv sind, was dazu führt, dass Pflanzenfresser, insbesondere Rinder, diese Krallenstandorte nutzen. In dieser Studie wurden die Auswirkungen der Zeit nach der Kraalierung auf die Vielfalt der Gehölzarten untersucht, wobei der Schwerpunkt auf der Artenfülle und dem Artenreichtum in den zuvor kraalierten Flächen lag, sowie die Auswirkungen der Zeit nach der Kraalierung auf die Grundbedeckung, die Biomasse und den Artenreichtum der Grasarten in diesen Hotspot-Gebieten zwei Jahre später. Zuvor kraalierte Hotspot-Flächen von 50 m x 50 m wurden nach dem Zufallsprinzip ausgewählt und zwei Jahre nach dem Kraalieren als Koppel 11, 15, 64 und 66 bezeichnet. Die Ergebnisse zeigen, dass zwei Jahre nach der Krautung ein signifikanter Einfluss auf die Biomasse der Graspflanzen besteht, da der p-Wert (p = 0,000) bei einem 95 %-Konfidenzintervall kleiner als p = 0,05) ist, und auf die Biomasse der Grasarten, da der p-Wert (p = 0,023) bei einem 95 %-Konfidenzintervall kleiner als p = 0,05) ist. Die Ergebnisse zeigen, dass 2 Jahre nach der Kraalierung ein signifikanter Einfluss auf den Baumartenreichtum (p = 0,000) und die Baumartenbiomasse besteht.
