This is a book about the love of baseball.
But it isn't your average baseball book.
Whether you're a fan of the sport, a numbers cruncher, or a sucker for inspirational stories of self-made people, Merrianna McCully's Three Up - Three Down has something for you. It tells the true story of her alliance with former pitcher and famous broadcaster Jim Kaat. He finds himself looking for someone to provide top-notch in-game analysis-and that someone turns out to be McCully. It follows her journey of passion for Major League Baseball through multiple television networks and periodicals-all while climbing the ladder at her day job.
She reveals her new concept called "Road map to the Playoffs" and the results of a twenty-five-year study of the "Final Score," which opens a wealth of information that could shake up the way baseball uses Sabermetrics. No one has ever conducted such extensive research before, and the resulting numbers and percentages of winning and losing may blow your mind.
This fifteen-year adventure culminates to a comprehensive analysis of baseball's current trends, what needs to happen to get more runs across the plate, and how one woman becomes a prominent voice in a male-dominated field.
About the Author: Merrianna McCully began her twenty-six-year career in the newspaper industry as a receptionist and retired as the prepress manager overseeing a handful of departments.
In her spare time, McCully fed her passion for Major League Baseball by using her knack for numbers as a statistician and analyst. For fifteen years, she worked for well-known MLB broadcaster and former big league starting pitcher Jim Kaat. She provided her services for CBS Sports, ESPN, the MSG Network, and YES Network, as well as Inside Sports Magazine. In 1992, Minnesota Twins general manager, Andy MacPhail also signed McCully into a multiyear contract for her unique skills.
While still crunching numbers, McCully also enjoys gardening, writing, crafts, and her dog, Duster. She always knew she would one day write about her fairy tale adventure through the wonderland of Major League Baseball, which she now shares in her book, Three Up - Three Down.
