El presente libro es una monografía que describe la vida y obra del destacado maestro de las artes plásticas venezolano, Pedro León Castro, ganador en 1961 del Premio Nacional de Cultura. La misma forma parte de una treintena de ensayos que el autor investigó y escribió en Caracas, acerca de pintores, fotógrafos y humanistas quienes fueron acreedores de este prestigioso galardón. Se trata de biografías breves que animan a los jóvenes estudiantes a acercarse a las artes y conocer los nombres de las figuras que engrandecen la cultura de los pueblos y muchas veces pasan desapercibidos.
About the Author: Ángel Cristóbal García (Santa Clara, Cuba) es graduado de Filología de la Universidad Central de Las Villas. Lingüista, periodista, escritor, editor y compositor musical. Colaborador del periódico Vanguardia y redactor de la revista literaria Islas (1984). Fundó Colección Escambray, el periódico católico Familia Unida. En 1998 se radica en Caracas, Venezuela, donde adquiere la ciudadanía venezolana e inicia una exitosa carrera como periodista en los medios privados y públicos. En 2002 crea Editorial Letras Latinas con la cual publica decenas de libros, y funda el periódico alternativo Prensa del Sur acreedor del Premio Municipal de Periodismo en tres ocasiones. Actualmente reside de manera permanente en los Estados Unidos, país donde registró Letras Latinas Publishers Inc. cuyos libros son distribuidos nacional y mundialmente a través de Amazon. Cuban Heritage Collection (University of Miami) y Library of Congress contienen en sus prestigiosos catálogos varios títulos del autor.
