Länder - Mittelalter, Frühe Neuzeit, Note: 1,0, Université du Luxembourg, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Globalisierung - ein Begriff den man heutzutage nur sehr schwer umgehen kann. Gleichzeitig gibt es kaum ein Konzept das derart vage und unbestimmt ist. Der Begriff der Globalisierung leitet sich ab vom Globus, also dem Erdball und impliziert auf diese Weise weltweite Vernetzung und weltumgreifenden Austausch. Ist die Verwendung dieses Begriffs im Rahmen einer Mittelalter-bezogenen Arbeit also angebracht? Dies scheint auf Anhieb nicht der Fall, da es im Mittelalter nur schwerlich zu weltumgreifenden Beziehungen und Kontakten kommen konnte. Geht man jedoch andererseits von einer möglichen Vernetzung der gesamten zu jenem Zeitpunkt bekannten Erdregionen aus, und somit der Umfang der mittelalterlichen Welt gedeckt ist, ist die Anwendung des Begriffs meines Erachtens vertretbar. Im Laufe des 9. bis zum 13. Jahrhundert hatte Venedig sich ein umfangreiches Handelsnetz vom Ärmelkanal, über Mittel-, Schwarzes, Kaspisches und Arabisches Meer hin zum Pazifik aufgebaut. Kann man im Fall dieser Handelsbeziehungen von einer überregionalen und transkulturellen Vernetzung der Lagunenstadt mit der gesamten damalig bekannten Welt ausgehen? Orientiert nach den ab dem 14. Jahrhundert eingeführten Galeerenflotten, den "mude", werden wir uns in einem ersten Schritt mit den Handelsrouten in die Romania, nach Alexandria und nach Beirut auseinandersetzen, da diese Linien Venedig den Zugang zum Nahen sowie zum Fernen Osten ermöglichten. Da es sich bei diesen Handelsrouten um die Haupteinnahmequelle und gleichzeitig um die am längsten bestehenden Fernhandelsbeziehungen der Serenissima handelt, wird die Untersuchung dieser Linien, vor allem jener in die Romania, den größten Teil dieser Arbeit beanspruchen.In einem zweiten Schritt werden wir einen Exkurs über die transalpine Landroute unternehmen, um die Handels
