The last time I cried was at my Mom's funeral. She too died of cancer. Before the priest and my family and friends and a bunch of people I didn't know, I wept unashamedly.
That was three years ago. It was a loss I've never been able to get over.
Last week as I watched the news about Kevin Conroy's death, I felt like it was my mother's death all over again.
I never knew Kevin Conroy personally, but I followed all the batman movies and animations passionately. Only two weeks before, I purchased a DVD of Batman: The animated series. The wrapping was wearing out, and I like my prized DVD collections to be in mint condition.
Batman is undoubtedly, my favorite DC character, and I have watched and re-watched all the animated movies and series about The Caped Crusader. His persona intrigued me and it wasn't just his aloofness. It was that voice. It imprinted in my mind and I found myself deepening my voice when I spoke, imitating the impersonal voice
I must say, Kevin's signature vocals contributed a great deal to the build-up of batman's mystique. it's a great loss not only to the loved ones he left behind but to all of us die-hard fans of Batman.
I wrote this book to pay homage to the illustrious actor.
In this book, you will find
-10 tidbits about Kevin's personal life
-a comparison of his Batman persona to other actors that played or voiced Batman
-tributes from his friends and other actors.
