Tutti conoscono il mito di Icaro, il ragazzo dalle piume di cera che vola talmente in alto da raggiungere il Sole prima di precipitare rovinosamente nel mare. È un racconto intessuto sull'importanza del buon senso, sulla necessità dell'uomo di dover limitare i propri desideri e la tremenda hýbris, quell'eccessivo orgoglio che gli antichi Greci dovevano tenere a freno per non incorrere nell'ira degli Dei. Quale migliore mito poteva portare questo insegnamento se non la storia del ragazzo che osò sfidare i limiti imposti dal cielo? Probabilmente nessuno.
Ma se dietro agli arroganti desideri di Icaro ci fosse altro? Come cambierebbe il mito se Apollo, quel Sole tanto crudele e tanto bramato da Icaro, fosse in realtà il suo amante segreto?

Il Volo di Icaro è un retelling del mito greco di Icaro, in cui il ragazzo destinato a volare troppo vicino al Sole, tanto da incontrare la morte a causa della sua scelleratezza, viene accecato dall'amore nei confronti dello stesso Dio che scioglierà le sue ali. È la storia di una tragedia travestita d'amore, in cui la speranza si intreccia alla solitudine in una danza scomposta e senza ritmo, dove l'odio cerca di prendere spesso il sopravvento ma viene inesorabilmente battuto dalla determinazione di Icaro di sopravvivere alla profezia mortale che pende su di lui come una spada di Damocle. È una storia intrisa di fiducia, ma anche una storia macchiata di tradimento da parte di Apollo che, nonostante le parole dolci come il miele che sussurra nelle orecchie del suo amato ogni notte, finisce con il tarpare le ali di Icaro che le ha spiegate proprio grazie a lui. Il Volo di Icaro è un romanzo che parla di promesse strette sotto la flebile luce delle Stelle e spezzate sotto i raggi del Sole, di frutta lasciata a maturare alla luce naturale e di scintillanti acque nel cuore di un Labirinto che non conosce uscita. È un romanzo che racconta della tracotanza umana e della grandezza degli Dei, ma anche dell'invidia dell'Olimpo e della forza dell'audacia degli uomini.
Il Volo di Icaro racconta di come anche le ali più belle possano sciogliersi sotto la calda luce del Sole e di come, proprio quando sembra si possa sfiorare il cielo con un dito, le scure acque del destino siano sempre più vicine, pronte a trasformare quel meraviglioso volo leggiadro in una caduta misera e patetica.
