Die Frage lautet: Welchen Einfluss ubt Altamerika auf die moderne Lyrik aus? Der Einstieg in die zeitgenossische hispanoamerikanische Poesie beginnt mit einer gerafften Darstellung der Lyrik unseres Jahrhunderts und mit kurzen Portrats der fur das Thema wichtigsten Autoren, u.a. Octavio Paz, Pacheco, Aridjis und Pellicer, Cardenal, Neruda, Mistral, Asturias bis zu Shimose und Cisneros. Von 400 bearbeiteten Dichtern und uber 2 Millionen durchgesehenen Versen wurden etwa 200 Gedichte aus beinahe allen Landern Spanisch-Amerikas mit Motiven der altamerikanischen, vorspanischen Epochen ausgewahlt. Alle Gedichte wurden aus dem Spanischen ubersetzt. Die Texte werden zweisprachig dargeboten. Die Untersuchung soll zeigen, wie eng die Dichter mit der Geschichte ihrer Heimat verwachsen sind und welchen Einfluss die Poesie auf die Identitatsfindung Lateinamerikas ausubt. Interessant gestaltet sich die Suche nach den wichtigsten Motivkomplexen sowie Analyse und Interpretation der Gedichte. Die Quellen entstammen sowohl den archaologischen als auch den schriftlichen Hinterlassenschaften der Urvolker sowie den Schriften der ersten spanischen Chronisten. Oft waren es die Monche wie Sahagun, Duran, oder Reisende wie Cieza de Leon, die die Indios befragten und ihre Aussagen zu Papier brachten, aber auch die Eroberer selbst und deren Soldaten schrieben ihre Erlebnisse auf."
About the Author: Der Autor: Manfred Behrendt, geboren 1940, Studium der Betriebswirtschaft und gelernter Exportkaufmann, bereiste in den sechziger Jahren Mittel- und Sudamerika. Er legte 1963 die Dolmetscher- und Ubersetzerprufung Spanisch ab und arbeitete zeitweilig als Ubersetzer (OLG). Nach Beendigung der beruflichen Laufbahn fuhrten ihn weitere Reisen zu den Ausgrabungen und autochthonen Statten in Mexiko, Peru, Bolivien und Chile. Ab 1990 studierte er an der Universitat Koln spanische Philologie, Judaistik und Alte Geschichte und lebt heute teils auf den Kanarischen Inseln, teils im Bergischen Land."
