Die Ursache hierfür liegt in der schlechten wirtschaftlichen Lage und einem einhergehenden Prioritätsverlust der Aktie als "Anlageform". Ein passendes Beispiel hierfür bietet der Deutsche Aktien- Index (DAX), der von 1999 bis 2003 mehr als die Hälfte seines Wertes einbüßen musste.1 Erfreulicher Weise konnte man in den letzten Monaten laut mehrerer Studien und Unternehmensbefragungen, ein Stimmungswechsel auf dem Aktienmarkt registrieren (u.a. steigender ifo Geschäftsklimaindex)2, der eine Wiederbelebung der Neumissionstätigkeit in den kommenden Jahren erwarten lässt. Für eine Reihe von Unternehmen wird die strategische Option "Börsengang" wieder interessant werden. Das deutsche Aktieninstitut (DAI) geht beispielsweise in einer jüngst veröffentlichen Studie von über 150 mittelständischen Unternehmen aus, die sich einen Börsengang in der nächsten Zukunft vorstellen können.3 Auch die Prognose von GoingPublic Magazins bestätigt die steigende Interesse der Unternehmen an der Börse. Bevor jedoch die Entscheidung für den Gang an die Börse getroffen wird, stellt sich für jedes Unternehmen die Frage, ob Nutzen und Chancen in einem ausgewogenen Verhältnis zu den Kosten und Risiken einer Börsennotierung stehen. Die vorliegende Arbeit vergleicht Vor- und Nachteile eines Going Public. Nach einer Abgrenzung der mittelständischen Unternehmen werden Ziele und Erwartungen aus Sicht des Unternehmens wie aus Sicht der Alteigentümer dargestellt.
