Wissen sichert die gesellschaftliche Entwicklung, das soziale Handeln und die gesellschaftliche Position des Einzelnen (vgl. Reinmann-Rothmeier/Mandl 2001, S.9f.). Mit herkömmlichen Bildungsangeboten kann der Bedarf an kontinuierlicher, berufsbegleitender und flexibler Weiterbildung nicht realisiert werden (vgl. Hinze 2004a, S.10). Beschränkt man E-Learning jedoch nur auf individuelles Lernen mit multimedialen Lernprogrammen, wird das didaktische Potential neuer Medien nur einseitig aufgegriffen. Die Formen des Lernens mit elektronischen Medien sind weitaus innovativer und vielfältiger (vgl. Iberer/Müller 2002, S.1). So gilt kollaboratives Lernen als die Form der internetbasierten Aus- und Weiterbildung, mit der den Anforderungen der Wissensgesellschaft Rechnung getragen werden kann. Mit kollaborativem Lernen werden nicht nur inhaltliche Lernziele, sondern auch solche Fähigkeiten erworben, die erst in Interaktion mit Lernenden und Lehrenden entstehen (vgl. ebd.). Die vorliegende Arbeit stellt nun die komplexen und miteinander verbundenen Faktoren dar, die für eine gelingende Lernkooperation erforderlich sind. Hierzu zählt zunächst die computervermittelte Kommunikation, die netzbasiertes Lernen zu einem kollaborativen Geschehen macht (vgl. Zumbach/Reimann 2001, S.4).
