About the Book

Voragem is the first book of the collection Moura-Vieira complete works of the last century - poetry and prose. Voragem appeared as the Santo Souza´s Award winner in 1989. Voragem brings in all the insights that with the passing of years and maturity, will delineate the trajectory of a successful writer in his relentless pursuit in the way of the exact language - whether expressed in the form of a poem, prose literary or scientific. Moura-Vieira is a worshiper of letters, a poet contemporary without misconceptions of a postmodernism that aims only to shock. The poems are woven into a language with careful concern to renew: restrained lyricism, language lean, good rhythm, musicality, originality, creativity and surprise. The book brings bears the mark of today's world: fast, no possible time for niceties. But rather than the term might assume, is his whirlwind tender, which does not mean to be passive, that maelstrom focuses on the world, life, things and humanity as a gentle bite, able to grasp the existence at that bite. Or as he says in an earlier poem: "an alert passenger who is learning landscapes while traveling awake". Maelstrom defines the author. The boy who played the arming of animalism becomes the man who is clothed in tenderness: the loneliness, the pain of men, the humanity of brotherhood, love, modern time and his unique way of viewing life filtered by a rare sensitivity, requiring that all pass through the fabric of emotion, passion, sentiment. There is no life in Moura-Vieira out of it, even when it comes to science. And so he filled the world and all of us with his poetry, dividing us precious questions about the existence and relieving the burden on us to live.
