There is nothing better than a good, old fashioned legend until a new one comes along. This original story dreamed up and hand-drawn by Mary Truly is set in Sedona, Arizona.
Sedona Blue takes a trip with their family to see the statues and wild animals of Sedona. They find the statues easily enough but as for the animals, not so much. At the end of the day, the family finally reaches the statue that Sedona Blue has wanted to see for a long time, that of "Tex" The Vortex Kid.
As Sedona Blue is looking at the statue of a legendary boy named Tex, a feeling of mystery is the only warning until Sedona Blue is swept into a magical vortex that surrounds the statue.
Before they know it, the two are in a totally different place, and Tex is no longer a statue, he is very much alive.
Tex uses his magical powers to show Sedona Blue the wild animals of the area: mule deer, javelinas, quail, coyotes, black bears, a mountain lion, and a bobcat. They also explore different vortex locations throughout Sedona, Arizona.
Sedona Blue and Tex become true friends, and when they part ways, neither one can help but shed a tear. In the end, less then a moment has passed, yet the adventure of a lifetime has transpired.
