About the Author: The authors of this trilogy are a father-daughter team writing under the pen name Matt Hews. With Dad being in his early seventies, he lives in the beautiful Pacific Northwest with his wife of over 50 years and his yellow lab. He is the proud father of two and is blessed to have three grandchildren. He is retired as a Sergeant First Class in the US Army Reserve and is active in his church. He is also a veteran of over 38 years at a local Sheriff's Department, twenty-five years full time and thirteen part-time. Working as a road deputy for many years, he rose to the rank of sergeant. He worked most areas of the department both as a deputy and as a sergeant mostly in detectives and patrol. At the latter part of his career he was sergeant of the K-9 unit and a handler himself. Over the years, he and his wife and daughter gave serious consideration to eventually running their own detective agency upon his retirement. With life taking another route, they decided to open a P.I. in fiction. Collaborating on this series was a natural step for both, making the characters loosely based on their own real-life relationship. With his daughter having successfully published fifteen romance novels of her own, making it possible for them to make their dream of owning a detective agency virtually come to fruition.
