About the Book

The Way of The Conscientious Connector is the complete paradigm-shifting, indispensable guide to creating the right, most rewarding and sustainable connections possible for Business, Career and Life. This book is the first in the world to teach to this depth the difference between the typical networking hit-and-run method of grab-a-card-and-go and actually enjoying, understanding and embracing a greater potential; that when your everyday focus is on creating true relationships you will be happier, healthier, enjoy more from life and actually not have to work nearly as hard to get where you want to go. It all starts with accepting the universal fact that everyone matters, each person has value and every person can contribute to the greater good from which we all benefit. We all agree that having the ability to make the right connections for your life and career can be critically important, even life changing. Having said that, unless you fully understand how other people deal with their circumstances, unless you can demonstrate empathy for what they might be dealing with, you are working from a false premise that everyone else is happy. If you think a lot of people are happy out there, however, think again. Thirty years ago over 62% of the working population in the United States said they were happy with their job. Today that number has dropped to 47%. Unstable world events, mergers, robotics taking the place of repetitive jobs and uncertainty from all parts of our government have left us edgy and wondering how we can create a better future if over half the working population isn't happy and some even wonder if they will still be employed next week. With more pressure than ever to hit our numbers and devote longer hours just to keep our jobs, there is an increasing need to be really good at connecting and to creating sustainable relationships. The Way of The Conscientious Connector helps everyone, especially those of you who absolutely hate networking. This is your guidebook to enjoying meeting people and getting to know them so you can serve them. In our everyday interactions, authenticity in our caring and attention to others is essential because it leads to more rewarding outcomes. The popular cutthroat line from the Godfather movie, "It's not personal, it's strictly business" that became a convenient excuse for selfish behavior doesn't cut it anymore. We can no longer afford to only focus on our own needs at the expense of everyone else, which is the universal lesson in all of this; the shift in our thinking and actions that must take place. The five sections to The Way of The Conscientious Connector step off what is needed for this shift. Examples, stories, homework pages and bonuses all take you well beyond the fruitless habits of just collecting business cards and a handshake. Many of your peers will continue to superficially network and surface-connect because just 'showing up' is all they ever learned to do. You, on the other hand, will learn how to build your database of sustainable, rewarding connections that are above and beyond what your competitors will ever understand.
