About the Book

I had a farm, an organic farm in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia. Friends who loved it called it Magic Valley-curving into another world of bright-water trout streams, rich bottom land, flower meadows and woodland, their fragrance rising to meet you. How would it be, I'd wondered, to circle the arc of solstice and equinox living as an earth-whisperer, not a brutalizer? How to steward land, and leave it richer and more beautiful? Was I young and foolish, starting up an organic farm, and trying to do it alone? That would be a strong maybe. But was I a fool, to try? I don't think so. The farm brought a lot of people joy, including me. And there's a sense of it having been a larger thought, than mine, gradually taking global form. Although prototype was not my plan of action, I had a very good run!
About the Author: Wayfarer lives near Taos, New Mexico in the high country of the American Southwest. She has written on-line wellness articles since 2008 at www.feastandfamine.blogspot.com You hold in your hand the third, and in all likelihood, the final book of the Wayfaring Traveler Series. From last to first: Earth-Whisperers explores her Blue Ridge Mountain organic farm; Call to Adventure the carpe diem of living; Whale Rider of the Tide, launched her written storytelling: in her journey from Maine Island to Rocky Mountain home, a western odyssey. She has various academic credentials, but more vividly, she has long life experience. A former organic farmer, a gardener and world traveler-choose life, only that and always!-she writes about history, community, earth changes and hegemony, truth-tellers, and earth-friendly futures. Blessed and cursed with a lightning-struck life, Wayfarer has honed her storytelling skills by listening to elders, reading aloud to children, classical singing, and small time big roles: Lady M. in the so-called "Scottish Play", Kate in "Taming of the Shrew", and Aldonza/ Dulcinea in "Man of La Mancha."
