Inhaltsangabe: Einleitung: Investor Relations ist Werbung um Investoren. Investoren müssen umworben werden, wenn in diesem Jahr in etwa 250 Handelstagen über 200 Unternehmen an die Börse gehen. Die zunehmende Zahl an börsennotierten Unternehmen führt auch zu erheblich mehr verbreiteten Informationen. Die Medien berichten allerdings nur von wenigen und speziell von großen Aktiengesellschaften. Durch die Flut der Börsengänge stehen Anleger folglich vor einem deutlich höheren Informationsaufwand, der wieder reduziert wird durch die Finanzkommunikation der Unternehmen, genannt Investor Relations (IR). Die Bedeutung von Investor Relations wächst mit dem steigenden Wettbewerb am Kapitalmarkt. Dieser wird durch das Internet verschärft, denn jetzt sind von überall aus alle Aktien weltweit handelbar und alle Informationen abrufbar. Auch die Einführung des Euro verstärkt die Internationalisierung des Aktienhandels, bei dem die Konkurrenz global gegenwärtig ist. Zudem vergrößern auch immer mehr ehemalige Staatsbetriebe, die nach der Privatisierung an die Börse gebracht werden, den Wettbewerb um Kapital. Neben der ständig wachsenden Nachfrage nimmt aber auch das Angebot an Kapital zu. Der Börsengang der Deutschen Telekom AG 1996 hat zum Beispiel sowohl das Angebot als auch die Nachfrage erhöht. Weiter gefördert wurde die Entwicklung einer Aktienkultur in Deutschland durch günstige Gebühren von Discount-Brokern. Dazu trug auch die Einführung der Stückaktie bei, die zu einem erheblich niedrigeren Preis pro Aktie führte und gerade Kleinanlegern eine risikoschmälernde Vermögensstreuung möglich machte. Demzufolge stieg die Zahl der Privatanleger 1999 gegenüber dem Vorjahr um 500.000 auf 5 Millionen. Das aktuell niedrige Zinsniveau und die Notwendigkeit, private Altersvorsorge zu betreiben, lassen einen weiteren Auftrieb dieser Aktienkultur erwarten. Die große Anzahl an Börsengängen und deren bemerkenswerte Kursentwicklung haben zu einem regelrechten Aktienboom in Deutschland geführ
